Night Snacking
- There is no magic cut off point for eating at night. It depends on who you are and your schedule. Ideally, for weight management and digestion, it is recommended not to eat within an hour of going to sleep.
- If you have evening cravings, first decide why you’re hungry. If hungry for food, get exactly what will hit the spot and ideally something healthy, in a portion-wise amount.
- Drink water
- Some great examples include: warm applesauce with cinnamon, a few crackers with cheese, a mini fruit platter with yogurt dip, a small bowl of cereal, a decaf chai latte with 2 homemade cookies or 3 cups of air-popped popcorn with a little grated cheese on top
- If always hungry at this time, start counting it towards your daily nutrient intake with something healthy rather than an extra non-nutritious snack every night.
