A
fun way to teach nutrition and healthy eating habits.
Kids’ Nutrition Tours have been developed by a team of
dietitians, educators, parents and primary students to promote
the benefits of making healthy food choices. It’s free
for the asking.
The Kids’ Nutrition Tour booklet consists
of teaching guides, classroom activities and grade specific
materials. The main portion of the program consists of an interactive
supermarket tour, facilitated by a Registered Dietitian.
This program
is designed to meet the learning outcomes of Kindergarten through
Grade 3, established by the Healthy Living and Career Exploration
segment of British Columbia Ministry of Education’s Personal
Planning Curricula and the expectations of the health curriculum
of Alberta Learning.
Tour guides make it easy.
This free teacher’s booklet contains everything needed
to easily integrate this nutrition unit into the classroom, including
useful lesson plans, teaching aids and practical suggestions
on how to prepare and conduct your tour. There’s also an
evaluation form so the program organizers can receive constructive
feedback and ideas for improvement.
The Kids’ Nutrition
Tour includes the services of a Registered Dietitian, who is
available to instruct teachers and parent helpers about the
tour as well as facilitate the tour itself.
Although a formal tour program is available for children in kindergarten to grade 3, we also offer tours for all school aged children, teens and young adults from grade 4 through to University. And they’re free of charge. Just let us know you’d like to book a tour and the dietitian for your store location will contact you to identify the needs of your group.
