Family non-hydrogenated
margarine 3 tbsp
40 Western Family regular
marshmallow (or
4 cups miniature
marshmallows)
1 L crispy rice cereal or puffed
wheat type cereal 4 cups
125 mL chocolate chips 1/2 cup
Spray
a 9x13" baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large
bowl, combine cereal and chocolate chips. Set aside.
In a large
saucepan, melt margarine over low heat. Add marshmallows and cook until
marshmallows are melted and mixture is well-blended, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Add crispy
rice or puffed wheat cereal and chocolate chips. Gently fold together
until chocolate chips are melted and cereal is well coated with marshmallow
mixture and chocolate.
Immediately,
press mixture into prepared baking pan. Use a greased spoon to lightly
press mixture in baking pan. Let cool or refrigerate to cool. Once
cool, cut into squares.
Honey Cinnamon
Variation: Reduce amount of marshmallows to 34 large and add 4 tablespoons
(60 mL) honey when melting marshmallows. When removed from heat, add
1 teaspoon (5 mL) cinnamon and stir to combine. Add cereal and gently
fold to coat well.
Makes 24 squares.
