We’ve become one of the first retailers in North America to actively commit to a sustainable seafood approach.
Working with SeaChoice, a nationally recognized seafood program we’ve created a sustainable seafood plan that helps us offer more sustainable seafood options to customers, as well as the information they need to make the right decisions.
Save-On-Foods is also the first retailer to sell sustainably grown Coho Salmon. SweetSpring brand freshwater Coho, is grown and harvested at the first commercially viable land-based closed containment salmon farm. SweetSpring Salmon is rated as a SeaChoice “Best Choice” product and has been placed on the “Super Green” list by the Seafood Watch Program, one of the most recognized assessment programs available.

We also do our best to help customers reduce waste with reward programs and services that encourage the recycling of plastic bags and the use of reusable bags. We also offer conveniences like our pharmacy medication disposal service.
We take our waste very seriously and recycle up to 90% of the cardboard, plastics and organics that come into our stores, including our plastic shopping bags, which when returned to us, are recycled into new plastic bags.
To make recycling even easier, Save-On-Foods is proud to feature Changes® Recycling Centres at 13 store locations throughout BC's lower mainland area.
