Beef Taco Superfries

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (650 g) McCain Superfries
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) canola oil
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) kosher salt
  • 1 package (35 g) Western Family taco seasoning
  • 1 - 1/2 cups (375 mL) frozen corn
  • 2 cups (500 mL) Western Family Tex Mex shredded cheese blend
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) sour cream
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) Western Family mild salsa
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) fresh cilantro, finely chopped

Directions

1.Preheat the oven and cook Superfries 15-20 minutes according to package instructions.

2.Meanwhile, heat a medium skillet over medium heat and add canola oil. Sauté onions for about 5 minutes. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Add ground beef and salt and cook through. Add taco seasoning and corn. Cook for 7 minutes.

3.Once the fries are cooked, place them on an ovenproof serving dish. Turn the oven to broil. Top fries with ground beef mixture and shredded cheese. Broil for 5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbling.

4.Serve topped with sour cream, salsa, green onions and fresh cilantro.

Tip: You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
