Greek Beef Kebabs

Ingredients

  • 1 - 1/2 lb (680 g) Top Sirloin Roast, sliced into 1 - 1/2 inch pieces
  • 2 bell peppers, seeded and sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, sliced into 1 - 1/2 inch slices
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) olive oil
  • 1 - 1/2 tsp (7 mL) kosher salt, divided
  • 1/2 tsp (3 mL) ground black pepper, divided
  • 1 - 1/2 tsp (7 mL) ground cumin, divided
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) ground coriander, divided
  • 8 wooden skewers
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) lemon juice
  • 1/4 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 dash hot sauce, more if desired
  • 4 thick-style pitas, warmed

Directions

1.Heat the broiler to high. Toss roast, peppers and onions with olive oil and half of the salt, pepper, cumin and coriander. Thread beef, peppers and onions onto 8 skewers. Broil for 6 to 8 minutes, until just cooked through.

2.In a small bowl, mix together yogurt, lemon juice, cucumber, mint, remaining salt, pepper, cumin and coriander Add hot sauce as desired.

3.Serve kebabs on warmed pita with a dollop of yogurt sauce.

Tip: You can substitute chicken breast for the top sirloin.
