Sandwiches on a Stick

Ingredients

  • 1 bread slice (or bun, bagel, pita or croissant)
  • butter, cream cheese or pesto (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) cubed cooked meat, or 2 pieces deli meat, cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) cubed hard cheese, or small bocconcini
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) chopped bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) cherry tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) cubed cucumber
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) torn lettuce
  • bamboo skewers, splinters removed

Directions

1. If desired, spread bread with butter, cream cheese or pesto. Cut into 8 pieces.
2. With each skewer, spear bread, meat, cheese, pepper, tomato, cucumber and lettuce, repeating ingredients if desired and ending
with a second piece of bread.
3. Tip: When preparing your ingredients, be sure to cut everything into similar-size pieces.
