3 cups Fresh Cherries, pitted and sliced
1 cup Western Family Salted Butter, softened
1 1/2 cup Sugar, divided
2 large Western Family Eggs
1 tsp Almond Extract
2 1/4 cups Western Family All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Western Family Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1 cup Powdered Sugar
2 tbsp Milk
Directions
- In a bowl stir together chopped cherries and 1/2 cup sugar. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine butter, 1 cup sugar, eggs, and almond extract and beat on medium speed until smooth.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Pour into the butter mixture and mix on medium speed until just combined.
- Press with fingers half of the dough into a greased 9 x 13 baking pan and bake for 10 min at 350F. Remove from oven and pour the cherry mixture on top. Drop the remaining dough into small clumps evenly on top and bake for 30 min until the dough is golden brown.
- In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar and milk together until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bars, slice into squares, and serve.
