


Halloween Finger Food Board


1) Creepy Crunch Bat and Pumpkin Chips
Ingredients
Chocolate Cupcakes
- 4 Western Family large flour tortillas
- 1 tbls cooking oil
- 1 tbls taco seasoning or Tajin
- Halloween cookie cutters
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400⁰F
- Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper
- Use the Halloween cookie cutters to cut out 20 Halloween shaped tortillas
- Place the tortilla cutout onto the lined cookie sheet.
- Spray or brush the tortillas with oil
- Sprinkle with taco seasoning/Tajin
- Bake the tortillas until golden brown, around 5-7 minutes.
- Allow to cool.
Substitutes: The chips can be seasoned with any spice mix but Tajin adds a nice orange pop to the Halloween chips!
2) Granny Smith Grin Goblins
Ingredients
- 2 granny smith apples
- ½ cup Western Family smooth peanut butter
- 16 googly eye candies
- ¼ cup Western Family blanched slivered almonds
- 1 mango
Directions
- First, quarter the apples, then cut off the core. This will be the back of the face. Next, cut a wedge into the other side of the apple quarter to make a mouth area.
- Spread or pipe the peanut butter onto the surface of the mouth. Not only is it tasty but it also is conveniently sticky enough to hold the other decorations: almonds, mango and googly eyes.
- Place 6-8 slivered almonds into the peanut butter for teeth.
- Place a thin triangular slice of mango inside the mouth for a tongue.
- Lastly, dab a small amount of peanut butter on the back of each googly eye and place above the mouth.
Substitutes: the peanut butter can be substituted for sun butter (sunflower seed butter) to make them peanut free. The slivered almonds can also be substituted by sunflower seeds.
3) Mummified Jalapeño Bites
Ingredients
- 8 oz Western Family cream cheese, softened
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 10 jalapenos sliced in half lengthwise, seeds removed
- 2 tbls chives, minced
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 Western Family egg (for egg wash)
- 40 small candy googly eyes
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400⁰F. Line a large baking tray with parchment paper or spray the pan with cooking spray.
- Slice your jalapenos lengthwise and remove the seeds and white meat.
- Add the cream cheese, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to a large bowl and stir to combine.
- Spoon the cheese mixture into the jalapeno halves.
- Unroll the puff pastry and roll it out to ½ cm thickness. Slice the puff pastry into 20 strips.
- Wrap each cheese-stuffed jalapeno half with a strip of dough, leaving room for where the googly eyes will be.
- Arrange the dough-wrapped, cheese-stuffed jalapeno halves on the prepared baking tray. Brush the dough with egg wash.
- Bake until they’re golden, about 15 minutes.
- Cool slightly then add the googly eyeballs. Serve warm.
Substitutes: the eyeballs can be substituted with black olives.
4) Pumpkin Patch Deviled Eggs
Ingredients
- 6 Western Family large eggs hard boiled
- ¼ cup Western Family mayonnaise
- 1 tsp grainy Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 drop red food coloring (may require yellow and red)
- salt and pepper to taste
- fresh chives cut into small pieces
- Tajin or paprika for garnish
Directions
- Boil the eggs for 12 minutes, allow to cool overnight or in the fridge for 1 hour.
- Peel the hard-boiled eggs, slice them in half, and scoop the yolks into a small mixing bowl. Set the egg white halves onto a platter.
- Mash the egg yolks with a fork.
- Add the mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt and pepper to the bowl, and stir to combine until smooth. Add the food colouring and mix well.
- Spoon the egg yolk mixture into the egg whites.
- Use a toothpick to lightly draw lines into the pumpkins.
- Slice a few chives into 1/2-inch pieces.
- Place the chive pieces onto your egg pumpkins as stems.
- Sprinkle with Tajin. Serve immediately or store in the fridge.
Substitutes: the eyeballs can be substituted with black olives.
5) Spooky Spider Pizza Bites
Ingredients
- One package mini pizza bagels, any flavor (12 bagels)
- 24 Western Family pitted large black olives
Directions
- Preheat oven and bake pizza bagels according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, cut olives into spider shapes. Cut 12 olives in half, crosswise. Use 2 crosswise halves to create the spider body on each pizza.
- Cut the remaining 12 olives in half lengthwise, and then thinly slice crosswise to create the spider legs.
- When the pizzas are done baking, allow to cool 1 minute, and then arrange olive pieces on top of each pizza to resemble a spider. Serve immediately.
Substitutes: If you feel ambitious you can also make your own pizza bagels!
6) Witchy Broom Snacks
Ingredients
- 4 Western Family Pizza Mozzarella Stringable Cheese Sticks
- 8 Western Family Pretzel Sticks
- fresh chives
Directions
- Cut the cheese sticks in half
- Peel the cheese strings halfway up, into 6-8 segments to create the broom effect (make sure to only go halfway up)
- Using a large toothpick or skewer to create a hole in the top of the cheese for the pretzel stick
- Press pretzel stick into the cheese
- Wrap the cheese with 1 chive, make a knot and trim.
- Serve immediately
