Prawn Rye Bread Rounds

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of Western Family Signature Jumbo Tiger Prawns
  • 1 loaf of Russian Rye Bread
  • 1 tub of Western Family Onion & Chive Cream Cheese
  • 1 jar Western Family Capers
  • 1 bunch of fresh Dill

Directions

1. Fill a saucepan with 2 litres of water and bring the water to a boil. Then add the prawns. Cook with the shell on for more flavour.
2. Reduce the heat, cover the pan and simmer the prawns for 3 – 5 minutes.
3. The prawns will be cooked when they float to the top and the shells are pink with the flesh having turned white throughout.
4. Remove the prawns from the heat immediately and run them under cold water for a few seconds to stop the cooking process.
5. Once the prawns have cooled, remove the shells and put aside until you are ready to assemble the rounds.
6. Meanwhile, grab the slices of the Russian Rye Bread and place on a clean surface.
7. Use a small glass to cut out rounds from the bread slices.
8. With a bread knife, spread some of the Western Family Onion & Chive cream cheese onto the bread round. Feel free to add a generous amount!
9. Place a boiled prawn on top of the cream cheese.
10. Finish with a sprig of dill and a couple capers.
11. Now place onto a platter and it’s ready to serve!

Tip: If the bread rounds stick to the glass, use a knife to slide them out.
