Homemade BBQ Chicken Marinade

This easy, home-made BBQ chicken marinade can be made well in advance giving you more time to enjoy your barbeque. Serve it with a refreshing salad for a deliciously healthy meal.

Homemade BBQ Chicken Marinade

Ingredients
Approx. 1.5 lbs of boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
2/3 cups ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp light brown sugar
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
1 clove garlic
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions
  1. Finely grate the clove of garlic.
  2. Combine all the ingredients for the marinade listed above including the grated garlic in a large plastic resealable bag.
  3. Add the chicken breasts or thighs to the bag.
  4. Squeeze out the air and seal the bag.
  5. Gently massage the marinade into the chicken by rubbing the outside of the bag with your hands.
  6. Refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight if possible.
  7. Preheat barbeque to medium heat and grease grill.
  8. Remove chicken from the bag and place the chicken around the sides of the grill.
  9. Grill covered over this indirect heat for 20 to 25 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 170°F (77°C) and looks slightly charred.
  10. Let the chicken rest for five minutes before serving.
